If you have a menu item that goes to an external site, you’ll likely want to open this in a tab so your visitor still has your site open. If you’re new to WordPress/Divi then you may be a little stumped on how to do this, but fear not, it’s actually really simple and built in to WordPress so will work with any theme 
So let’s get cooking!
Navigate to Appearance > Menus and in the top right of the screen click on Screen Options.
Under Show Advanced Menu Properties ensure the first box called Link Target is ticked.
Now expand the menu item you want to open in a new tab and tick the box called Open link in a new tab and then save your menu.
And that’s it, pretty simple eh?

Hi there! This is very helpful, however I am losing my mind how to figure out how to open an external link in a new tab on a page or post. If I’m using the traditional builder it gives me the option to open it in a new tab when I for example type “to connect with this site click here” and I highlight “here” and add a link. But if I’ve already started using the Divi Visual Builder (can’t go back to the traditional one at that point), it doesn’t offer that as an option! Any suggestions would be… Read more »
In the Visual Builder you just need to select new window in the target option…
This was perfect! I’d been hunting around for awhile and was stumped. One more thing maybe you can help with… I’m linking to an audio file and I’d it to start playing automatically. Any idea how I can get that to happen?

Using Divi theme, How to open a text in a new windows?
Not sure exactly what you mean, but if you are referring to a text link you can use target=”_blank”
